Farewell, GameTrailers

The writing has been on the wall for a while now. It’s a troubling sign when a stalwart in any industry meets its end. Sadly, this was the case for the video game media industry on February 8, 2016, when Brandon Jones of GameTrailers announced that the website would be shutting down. Pokémon Red/Blue Retrospective

So I guess I’m supposed to comment on the first generation of Pokémon games for the Game Boy for Phil here. Sure, Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow defined a generation of gamers here in the United States, but let’s throw Yellow out of the mix temporarily. On February 27th, 1996, Pocket Monsters Red and Green were released in Japan, but that’s not what this retrospective is about either.
